BREAKING STIGMAS
ON MIND AND BODY

Feel safe. Feel supported
Never feel alone.

Body Talk is an online platform that breaks stigmas on Mental Health and redefines Body Image by spreading awareness through open conversations, shared experiences, education, resources, support, creativity and collaboration.

By choosing healthy over skinny, you are choosing self love over self- judgment. By doing so you are choosing yourself, you're mental and physical health, and your confidence over the world’s preconceived ideals and pressures. When you’re healthy, your skin glows, your hair is healthier, your mind is more positive, you think more clearly, and your self-esteem is much higher. Choose you, not society’s/media’s opinions on what’s beautiful. Healthy is what’s beautiful and wanted, always.

Sometimes self harm comes from numbness. Instead of thinking the person is crazy, getting angry or saying words that can cause more harm than comfort, the most important thing is to understand the reason behind it, to make the person feel understood (even if you don’t understand it yourself). That’s what empathy is and it should be applied even more in situations that seem extreme.

BODY TALK ZINES

The Body Talk zine brings the creative community together to talk about both the topics with their work. Each issue caters to a theme to help the reader dig past surface-level conversations.

To quote Virginia Woolf, “The truly sensitive are always unsparingly honest with themselves; they care for nothing but the truth.” Within these pages, you’ll find raw truths about how sensitivity has shaped the lives of our contributors. Some stories may resonate with you; others might open your eyes to new perspectives. You'll read about sensitivity as susceptibility: moving countries, finding one’s sexual identity, and feeling influenced by ads that sell fantasies of perfection. You’ll encounter vulnerability in the face of loss, the struggle of displaying oneself online, navigating PMS, trusting in long-distance relationships, and the challenges of adapting to new cultures. We explore grief from unexpected angles, including that of a man mourning an abortion. You’ll witness the turmoil of losing oneself in marriage, living amidst global chaos, the pressure to look "perfect," and the plight of refugees in wartime.

Yet, through these stories, you will also see resilience, self-awareness, confidence, empathy, and acceptance...

So after you read this issue, ask yourself, what does sensitivity mean to you?
